Emergency Roof Repair
in Los Angeles & the Valley

Roof leaking right now? Leak calls are answered 24/7. During rain we tarp or dry in the roof the same day, stop the water, photograph the damage for your insurer, and quote the permanent repair in writing.

Emergency roof repair in the San Fernando Valley (2026): emergency tarp or dry-in $250–$600; storm and wind damage repairs $850–$1,750; most permanent leak and flashing repairs $350–$1,200. Leak calls are answered 24/7, and an active leak during rain gets a tarp or dry-in the same day.

While you wait: move furniture and electronics away from the water and catch the drip. If a ceiling is sagging with water, keep everyone out from under it and switch off the breaker for any light fixture in that ceiling. Do not climb onto a wet roof. Photograph the damage inside and from the ground outside; your insurer will ask for it.

Roofing RIB Company handles emergency roof repairs across Sherman Oaks, Van Nuys, Studio City, Encino, North Hollywood, Burbank, Glendale and the rest of the San Fernando Valley: emergency tarping and dry-ins during rain, wind-lifted shingles and ridge caps, punctures from fallen branches, broken tile, failed flashing and flat-roof seams that open in a storm. Leak calls answered 24/7: (818) 600-6707. Dated photos and a written damage report for your insurance claim, then a written quote for the permanent repair.

When the Roof Is Leaking Now

Stop the Water
First

An emergency roof call has one job: stop the water coming into the house. On a shingle roof that usually means a heavy tarp fastened over the damaged slope and carried over the ridge so rain cannot run underneath it. On a flat roof it can be a membrane patch or sealant over an opened seam and a cleared scupper. On tile it means replacing or covering the broken pieces so the underlayment beneath them stays dry. All of it is temporary by design; it buys dry weather for the real repair.

The calls follow the weather. Valley roofs go months without rain, and then the first heavy storm of the season finds every cracked pipe boot, lifted shingle and clogged scupper at once. Santa Ana winds in fall and winter lift ridge caps and shingles on exposed slopes and bring down branches. Those leaks start at night and on weekends as often as during the day, which is why the leak line is answered around the clock.

Insurance is part of the job. Sudden damage from wind or a falling tree is usually covered by a homeowner policy; wear and age are not. We photograph the damage with dates before and after the tarp goes on and write up what failed and why, so you have documentation for the adjuster. Most policies also expect you to protect the house from further damage, one more reason to get the roof covered now rather than after the storm.

Once the roof is dry we come back for the permanent repair: new shingles or tile, new flashing, a rewelded seam, or, if the inspection shows the roof is at the end of its life, a written replacement quote so you can decide with both numbers in front of you. The cost of the emergency tarp or dry-in is credited toward the permanent repair when we do it.

Document, Repair

01

Leak Line Answered 24/7

Call (818) 600-6707 at any hour. Tell us where the water is coming in and how fast; during rain, active leaks go first.

02

Emergency Tarping

Heavy-duty tarps fastened over the damaged area and carried over the ridge so wind and rain cannot get underneath; removed when the permanent repair is done.

03

Dry-In on Flat and Tile Roofs

Membrane patches and sealant over opened seams and cleared scuppers and drains on flat roofs; broken tiles replaced or covered so the underlayment stays dry.

04

Wind & Storm Damage

Ridge caps, shingles and flashing lifted by Santa Ana winds or a storm secured or replaced, and loose material that could blow off taken down.

05

Fallen Branches & Punctures

Branches small enough to move safely cleared from the roof, and punctures sealed and covered until the decking and roofing are rebuilt. Large limbs need a tree crew first.

06

Insurance Photo Report

Dated photos of the damage before and after the temporary repair and a written report of what failed and why, ready for your adjuster.

Storm Season in the Valley

Rain, Wind and
Old Flashing

Roof emergencies in the Valley come from the same few failures. Pipe boots and vent flashing crack after years of sun and let the first heavy rain straight through. Valleys clogged with leaves overflow under the shingles. Flat roofs over garage conversions and patio enclosures pond at a blocked scupper until the water finds a seam. Santa Ana winds peel up ridge caps and the first course of shingles at the rakes.

Hillside homes south of Ventura Boulevard, in the canyons and along the foothills add steep pitches, narrow streets and the Class A requirement, so even a temporary repair is planned around the slope and the access. Tile roofs need a careful hand, because walking on old clay or concrete tile breaks more of it.

The cheapest emergency is the one that never happens. A roof inspection in September or October, before the first storm, finds the cracked boots, clogged valleys and open seams while they are still a small repair.

What It Costs

Emergency Repair
Planning Ranges (2026)

ScopePlanning rangeWhat's included
Emergency tarp / dry-in$250–$600Temporary cover during rain so the interior stops taking water; credited toward the permanent repair when we do it.
Storm or wind damage repair$850–$1,750Lifted or torn shingles, damaged ridge caps and flashing after a wind event; the Los Angeles estimator range.
Leak or flashing repair$350–$1,200Locate the source, replace damaged shingles or membrane, reseal or replace flashing at a chimney, skylight, vent or wall. Tile and flat roofs sit toward the top of the range.
Larger repair or section re-roof$1,500 and upRotted decking, a failed flat section or a repeat leak that needs a section rebuilt rather than a patch; quoted after inspection.

Planning ranges compiled from the published cost guides listed below; the repair guides are national figures, and Los Angeles labor rates sit above the national average. Tile, metal and flat roofs cost more to repair than shingle. The written price after the inspection is the real number.

How It Works

Three Steps.
No Surprises.

01

Free Roof Inspection

A roofer, not a salesperson, walks every slope, checks the flashing, penetrations and attic side, and photographs what they find. You get a straight answer on repair versus replacement.

02

Written Quote

An itemized written quote for the emergency roof repair: tear-off, decking allowance, underlayment, covering, flashing, vents, permit and haul-away. The price in the quote is the price on the invoice unless you change the scope.

03

Permit, Build, Inspect

We pull the permit, protect the property, complete the work in the quoted window and schedule the final inspection. You get the closed permit and the material warranty paperwork at the end.

★★★★★

The Roofing RIB Company team came out to look at our roof since we had a few leaks. He was really professional and explained the whole roof structure and what caused the leak. We ended up replacing the whole roof because it was almost 35 years old; the price was reasonable compared to the other quotes we got. Would definitely recommend Roofing RIB Company.

I've had many roofers come to check my roof and got a wide variety of quotes, sales gimmicks and outright lies. This company was nothing like that. They called right back when I asked for a quote and made an appointment. When they showed up, they took measurements, explained their process, and gave me a copy of their insurance and bond documents, and a clear and simple contract that made sense. They came on the agreed day and finished the job quickly and efficiently. It looks good.

Planning ranges for 2026: an emergency tarp or dry-in $250–$600, storm and wind damage repairs $850–$1,750, and most permanent leak and flashing repairs $350–$1,200. The tarp or dry-in is credited toward the permanent repair when we do it.

Move furniture and electronics out of the way and catch the water. If a ceiling is sagging, keep people out from under it and turn off the breaker for any light fixture in it. Do not go up on a wet roof. Take photos inside and from the ground outside, then call (818) 600-6707.

Not permanently. Shingle adhesive, membrane welds and sealants need a dry surface to bond. What can be done in the rain is a temporary tarp or dry-in that stops the water; the permanent repair follows once the roof dries.

Sudden damage from wind, hail or a fallen tree is usually covered; wear, age and maintenance are not. Most policies expect you to prevent further damage, so keep the receipt for the tarp. We provide dated photos and a written damage report for the adjuster.

A properly fastened tarp is a stopgap for days or weeks, not a season. Sun and wind wear it down, so the permanent repair should follow as soon as the roof is dry.

Yes. On tile we replace or cover the broken pieces so the underlayment stays dry; on flat roofs we patch opened seams and clear blocked scuppers and drains so the water can leave the roof.
